Thiruvananthapuram, June 14: Indian Medical Association (IMA) has declared KIMSHEALTH as South Kerala’s first elderly-friendly hospital.
The citation in this regard has been presented to KIMSHEALTH Chairman and Managing Director Dr M I Sahadulla by IMA Thiruvananthapuram District Committee Chairman Dr Prashant C V.The recognition was accorded after a team of IMA directly assessed various facilities introduced by KIMSHEALTH for enhanced geriatric care. The recognition will be valid for the next two years.Exclusive registration and billing counters and seats for elderly people have been set up at KIMSHEALTH. Outside the hospital special waiting centres furnished with easy to use chairs have been set up outside the hospital complex as part of enhanced geriatric facilities.Specially trained health workers have also been deployed on duty to assist elderly people coming to the hospital on their own. They will assist elderly patients to go to X-ray and scanning units. An exclusive helpline has also been set up for elderly people. On demand, vehicles will also be arranged for old people to come to the hospital and return home.
KIMSHEALTH Clinical Service Director Dr Rajan B, CEO Shri Jerry Philip, Deputy General Manager (Quality & Innovation) Ms Sreeshubha Kurup, Deputy General Manager (Healthcare Promotions) Anil Paul Jacob and Chief Nursing Officer Captain Ajitha Nair were present on the occasion.
